In Poseidon's Realm XX: Land unter!

16.3.-22.3.2015, Nuremberg

Flood control is not an invention of modern age. Man always attempted to avoid flooding of settlements and fertile grounds by digging sewers, building dikes and embankments or by other methods ‒ not always successful.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the conferences „In Poseidon’s Realm“ will take place at the Germanic National Museum at Nuremberg and the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. more

In Poseidon's Realm XIX:
Life by water and waterside

Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen/Bodensee, 21.-23.3.14

“In Poseidon‘s Realm XIX” took place in spring 2014 at the Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen. The international conference on underwater archaeology focused on the topic “Life by water and waterside“.

All over the world, through all periods of history and prehistory, but for different reasons man used – and still is using – several means to make possible settling in close contact with water. You might think of the Pile dwellings of the Alpine lakes, the crannogs of the Scottish lochs, the artificial dwelling mounds in the North Sea off the German coast or at the man-made platforms in the lagoons of Northern Italy.
